I am not really a new member, but I have been gone so long that likely no one remembers me today so I thought I'd reintroduce myself.
I'm a long-time chicken keeper in North/Central Florida. Have kept many breeds and varieties over the years. My interests are primarily in practical egg production. I used to hatch a fair number of chicks back in the day, but it's been a while so I'm coming up to speed again on the changes in equipment since then. I have a handful of chicks in the brooder right now for this year's flock to join my birds from last year. I was astonished at how expensive chicks have become! That's what got me to thinking about rolling my own once again.
