(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Raised on an Iowa farm... always had chickens.
Decided that I really missed the Leghorns Mom would order in spring, in fall the pullets were laying and the roosters would roost
in the big maple tree... it was my job to pull them down, crate and butcher the next day.
Sure, the legs are least half the size of a broiler, but it is all meat, all lean and no stringy fat or gristle...and I know its origin.
THAT is what turned me on to saving some of the old, authentic " heritage " LF breeds.
The industry has nearly ruined "good meat " and are well on their way to the same with pork and then beef.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Wayyyyy too many yet not enough.
(3) What breeds do you have?
White Jersey Giants; Golda Miller Line, now these are FUN !
SQ Rhode Island Reds, God Love em !
Old Fashioned White Leghorns, Crazy & flighty but beautiful
Black Spanish White Face, Just for fun
SQ Rouen Ducks.... And I used to be a Mallard fan, who knew.........

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Horses, Beef... all Livestock, except sheep of course.
