I've been reading on BYC for a couple years as we were researching and finally decided to join in the fun. I'm a busy stay at home, homeschooling mom of 4 (almost 5!) children in the Pacific NW. We are in the process of moving to our farmhouse on 5 acres this summer where we already have a flock of chickens set up. We are raising for eggs now and plan on raising for meat as well eventually.
We were just so excited for chickens that we couldn't wait until we moved in! We have a 1 year old flock of 9 Easter Egger hens, 1 Blue Wyandotte hen, and 1 Easter Egger rooster. They are laying nicely and the Wyandotte is currently sitting on eggs that should be hatching soon. We also have a new flock of 11-12 week olds in the grow out pen - 5 Buff Orpington pullets, 1 Silver laced Wyandotte pullet, 3 Blue laced red Wyandotte pullets, 2 Gold laced Wyandotte pullets, 4 Black Australorp pullets, 1 Black Australorp cockerel and 1 Black Jersey giant cockerel (we think). Our children love being around the chickens and we've found them to be great fun. I'm looking forward to participating here!
