Long Time Lurker

Welcome back to posting on Backyard Chickens!

I want Quail too. My Youngest DD wants me to get some too. Maybe she will help me with them...You never know....
Depending on how young I know, my 9 year old wanted a cat so bad! so when one found us(when she was 12) we brought it to her. She was soooooo much help in cuddling him. Otherwise a useless human caretaker. But your mileage may vary!

Regardless we still have our awesome cat and he brought us a rat tonight. It is a small one but shows he still loves us. Let me state for the record he has brought us moles, shrikes, rats, mice and an unimaginable survey of small rodents in his time with us. Huge 1 pound rats too.

My eight-year-old daughter is a large part of the reason for all of our animals. This past Saturday it was time (past time, really) to shovel out the chicken coop. She wasn't thrilled when I told her that was going to be our project together. But the right combination of firmness when she first objected and quick praise the first time she did something close to praiseworthy, and that girl really worked hard. Of course, it still took twice as long with her helping as it does when I do it alone, but that's not the point, is it?

To everyone: I'm not a big forum-type person, but I've joined a few over the years. And I have NEVER received as warm a welcome as I have in the two hours since my first post here. Thanks!

Hi, I've been reading and learning from Backyard Chickens for a long time, first about chickens starting years ago, and more recently about quail. We've been raising chickens for close to 10 years, I guess, and have more recently added the quail. I registered a long time ago, but I hadn't ever posted, so I thought it was time I start!

Well there Plip welcome to the light enjoy

Agreed totally not the point at all when bonding with a daughter. Please continue to empower that young lady! I was in a hurry and failed here too. Thank god my daughter is still the most awesomest young lady on the planet!
