Hello! My name is Angela. I live in the mid-Atlantic region of the US. My husband and I have had chickens for almost 5 years. We mainly keep our girls for egg purposes. We currently have 4 buff Orpingtons, 2 barred rock crosses, 3 Ameraucanas (2 black, 1 blue), and a lavender Ameraucana rooster. We are looking to hatch some new chicks in the spring if we’re lucky enough to get a broody hen. It’s nice to finally join the community!

I get a chuckle though when someone says similar to this:


We raise/breed silkies, and around here, it's a shocker not to have a broody hen. Hopefully, one of yours will go broody for you though!

Out of all of our girls only one Buff goes broody every summer. Feisty Beatrice has hatched two clutches and we tried for a third last year, but unfortunately they were duds. We'll see what next year holds for us!
