The sex links are very prolific layers but, they burn out sooner than other layers. Usually the first two years is their peak time. Are they fed layer feed with crushed egg shell offered free choice to build up their eggshells.

I have had Black Sex Links give 3-4 years of good laying.

We do layer feed, as well as several hours a day of open foraging in the back yard. I tend to either mix oyster shell in with the feed or offer it on the side depending on how lazy I am that day. This sex-link is now about 5 and she's been chugging along steadily since I got her.
