Hello! I'm not new to BYC since I've been reading online for many years. I've owned chickens since 2004 and have LOVED having fresh eggs and playing with our sweet hens. We own 24 hens and NO roosters. I would rather buy the chicks than deal with any roosters or having my hens pecked on and looking beat up.

My 3 kids love handling our hens all the time and do handle most of the care of them. Lately, our egg production has stopped and I'm tempted to get rid of all the hens. Soooo frustrating! I know I won't get rid of them, but super frustrated so looking for any suggestions, answers, or sympathy. LOL! I'm glad I finally joined BYC. Looking forward to hearing from others.

Welcome anyway. If you aren't getting eggs just rehome most of them except your top 3 or 4 favorites and get brand new chickens (any breed you want, bantams, laced ones etc) and have your chickens be productive. There are tons of people out there that just want hens, whether they lay or not, just to peck in their yards.

! Happy you joined us. Yes, it can be difficult parting with old and faithful hens when they stop producing. But it sounds like you gave them a great life. Best of luck to you!!
