Ella2025's Experiment Broody Hen Hatch-A-Long

People have put a line of nail polish on cracks like that, apparently it doesn't hurt and might help. The only difference may be hen sitting-turning eggs vs gentle turning-nothing sitting on it in an incubator.
Thanks! I think I'll try that. Do you think the nail polish drying will make the egg cold? I think I'll find a fast drying one. Can it get into the egg.

Good morning, Spice eggs!!
Let’s see some growing today!

Crossing my fingers for Saturday!

The good news is that when candling it (sorry I forgot to take a photo of the lit up egg) I could see the air cell and the yolk with a red looking big dot on it. Since it's day 1 for this egg I was very surprised to see this much development.
That was not development, it was a blood spot. When the yolk was released to start making an egg a blood vessel ruptured and put a little blood in it. When they start developing about the first thing you will see is veins.

Blood spots are not that unusual. Good luck with the hatch.

Thank you! It looked red in the egg when candling but after cracking the egg there wasn't any red. Whenever I candle the egg always looks orange/red so maybe I just saw a spot and thought it was a red one.

I'm guessing it doesn't get inside since you're just covering a hairline crack to keep it from fracturing more. Someone even used glitter nail polish awhile back, yay sparkles LoL. You won't have the egg out very long so should be fine.
Bippy, keep all the real eggs tucked under your warm fluff!!
