My Ideal "Surprise Pullet Special" order came in yesterday!! I'm having so much fun watching them and trying to figure out what they are! I have some ideas, but I need some input from some more experienced chicken keepers. I know sometimes you can't tell until they feather out, but tell me what you think. We love them no matter what they are, but we're so curious!

1. Chipmunk with pink feet. Looks EE except for those feet...can the feet change color?

2. Tiny chipmunk with a more reddish/brown tint. These chicks are supposed to be standard size. She does have darker legs. Maybe just a small EE?

3. Black/yellow with clean pink feet

4. Black/yellow with feathered legs...how cute is she!?! Light Brahma? or a Cochin? There are 2 more with feathered legs that are much darker this one. Could they be the same breed?

5. Another black/yellow with darker clean legs

6. Almost all black, but with a reddish face. Black sex link? I have 3 more that look like this. And a few others that are all black, but can't see any red in their face. Could those be BSL too?

Thanks for your help!

Can't help you with most. I, like you, don't think the chipmunk ones are EEs. The last though I'd be willing to be will be Partridge in color. That's all I can tell about them.

I have had a chipmunk chick like yours, it grew into a dark-brown chicken, don't know the breed tough. It became massive over the years, and was over 5 kilo's when it died.

Edit:

Like this one but muchhh bigger.

I too got a surprise special a couple weeks ago and most the tiny chipmunk ones died. I think the first is a brown leghorn. Number 4 is a black or silver laced cochin. 6 is a partridge plymouth rock

Sorry to hear that. We lost two that looked like wyandottes. Our little one seems active and healthy so far, hopefully she stays that way. I hate losing chicks =(

Brown leghorn was on my list of possibilities for 1, but I wasn't sure because her legs are pink and all of the leghorns I've seen had yellow. We'll see! Thanks for your input!

1st looks like a welsummer
2nd (chips are hard since there are a lot that look like them as chicks) could be a pheonix
3rd could be an ancona
4th either cochin (single comb) or brahma (pea comb)
5th maybe minorcas
6th looks like a black sex link pullet

these are all just guesses once the get to at least 10+ weeks repost their pics and breeds should be easier to tell what they are.

4. looks like my light brahma when she was a baby
5. looks like my silver lakenvelder almost...
