Look at the chicken ark I built today for the girls

I decided I needed a way to let the girls be able to enjoy our back yard and eat a little grass without getting in trouble by jumping the privacy fence (we live in a subdivision) and getting eaten by the neighborhood dogs or the hawks that fly over head. So today I build a chicken ark pen. Hope the girls enjoy it.

The only modification I see that I will have to make is to move the wheels about 12" forward (outside the coop) so that when I lift the other end (with the door) the end with the wheels doesn't dig into our uneven lawn.

Not sure which end has the door...but if you lift the end with the wood, moving the wheels towards that end will make the wheel end dig in more with less lift. Let us know how that works out.

Also, don't count on the chicken wire keeping dogs out, strong determined dog with time to work could get in there.

Actually I figured out how to move it best. I PULL it from the door end. Works great and doesn't dig in the ground.

We will only use this when we are home since it appears they get bored after about 1 hour. Also there's no place to lay their daily eggs, get out of the sun and I really don't want them scratching all my grass up. Dogs never get into our back yard - it's surrounded by a 6' fence.

A 6 ft fence didn't stop the bobcat from getting our hen. I agree with aart. Chicken wire isn't strong enough to keep out most predators. Hardware cloth works the best. I do love your chicken ark though.
