Look at what my neighbors friend has! Meet Meo!

he is one beautiful wolf, I had a 3/4 timber wolf 1/4 German Shepard when I was kid she was the best dog ever. Very protective of us and she only killed one of our ducks an injured one. She left all the rest of the livestock alone. I raised her from 3 weeks old. I loved that dog. My DS now has a husky and you can still see the wolf in her. I wish your friend the best they can be the most loving sweetest animals there are but they have to be trained and have lots of attention.

i was dogsitting for the neighbors across the street years ago. They had 3 dogs;a chesapeake bay retriever,a Irish setter and some breed of "husky-type" dog . The Chessie went into heat while the owners were gone and the Arctic wolf hybrid from 3 blocks away got off it's chain , scaled their 6 foot privacy fence, came down the road to our neighbor's ,jumped their 4 ft. chainlink and GOT INTO the HOUSE to get at the Chessie...in his hormonal state he ATTACKED the Irish Setter ( a female) ...the vet counted over 100 bite marks on her body before he just gave up counting. She died from massive blood loss.
NO one can tell me that a WILD animal can be a "pet" ,it's ridiculous what people do for novelty's sake..
i'm sorry if i have offended anyone but owning a wild animal is wrong and cruel. It is illegal in many states but not all.
Also , a quick search on the internet and you will find testamonies of the foolishness of it from the wolf and wolf-hybrid rescues.

When I was younger my friend had a wolf cross. He was 75% wolf, the rest malamute. He was a wonderful animal and never hurt anyone. Wolf and wolf crosses can make good 'pets' for the right people. But they need to understand that wolves are not dogs, and their behavior is different. I see nothing wrong with having a wolf if you have the room and fencing to have one. That is a beautiful wolf, but IMO it shouldn't be kept on a chain(neither should a dog). It needs room to run and play. Without stimulation it can become destructive and possibly aggressive(but just because it is on a chain or because it is a wolf does NOT mean it will be aggressive). They are very smart animals and need something to do, or they will make up their own things to do.

I am saddened to see such a beautiful WILD animal on a chain. And no, a wild animal raised by humans does not make it domesticated. It takes hundreds if not thousands of years to domesticate wild animals into our world for our purposes. Wolves, and dogs alike, are pack animals and very social by nature and it is cruel to exile them to a chain in a yard. Daily visits with food and water is not enough! I am not saying that is what your friend has in mind, but I still don't agree with keeping animals that are meant to be wild in nature doing what God intended them to do as "pets". What's wrong with getting a dog? Makes me think these people need more attention.

Well, he's sure pretty. I'm a firm believer though that wolves are not dogs........And being on a chain isn't a life, even for a dog in my humble opinion........

I am sure glad he is in your neighborhood and not mine.

It's sad that people are allowed to own wild animals. Actually, disturbing...

This animal doesn't belong in a house. In a yard. In a neighborhood. That animal, regardless of how gorgeous it may be, is WILD. Not feral, WILD. It's sad he's been hand reared... even so, should not have to be confined to just a yard for the rest of his life. And on a chain? Sorry, but that's cruel and inhumane - especially to a wolf. This goes for any wolf hybrid too...

Someone needs to take it from them, if they plan to keep it that way. They need to realize what they are doing, and get a dog. All a dog is, is a domesticated wolf. Tell them to get a malamute... they look simular.

i only hope he is inevitably put down quick and humanely, and alot of people were harmed very badly or to death, and someone finally learns a lesson, and doesnt blame everything on the hybrids and certainly not pure bred wolves. keeping a lone wolf funny and sad how stupid some people are (though i did it too as a young boy for a short bit, till i learned better).
