Look everyone! A SALAMANDER!

I have a soft spot for reptiles and amphibians... he's super cute, but I have to agree with the person above me. Letting him go would probably be the best thing to do. You're lucky to have found him... all I've found in my house has been wasps and a scorpion... OH and we usually have a lady bug invasion n our home once a year.

We had a ladybug invasion once. There are still some random corpses.

We did let him go. We didn't put him in the garage, we just found him sitting there in the middle of the floor. The spotlight we had on him warmed him up enough so he could move and go outside. All is well.

chickensducks&agoose :

You need to let him go NOW! They hibernate in the winter, they dig a burrow and go down into the earth and hibernate. If you keep him, you will really mess up his schedule and he will die. They are so beautiful and relatively rare. I've only seen 5 in my whole life.

Agree. I found one of these this spring and did research. We found him after a freak warm spell where he must have came out of hibernation. It started snowing again and it was freezing out so we kept him in a terrarium until it was nice out. Set him free and hopefully he will go hibernate

I named mine Newton.

We have a ton of them by my house... they live in my basement window casements..
i'd hear my cats scratching at the window screens and look outside and see them laying there... drives my cats crazy.. they want to get at them.
And they even get IN my 2nd basement too.. we find them there in the winter... we find them under our duck pools to when we empty it out...
We have them.. and a reddish brown ones too..

We have ones similar to those here in Wisconsin. May be even the same breed. They are called Tiger Salamanders. They hiss at you and may charge you.

We found one a couple years ago on our property so we put him in one of those plastic bug/reptile tanks with some moss and kept him there for a few days until I got bored of him. Then we let him go where we found him. It was a cool experience.

did Nut Lemon get scared?
