look like mealworms?

I have a question. I have a brooder that is up off the ground and under it are hundreds of these things that look like mealworms. Anyone have an idea of what these things are? I know that they are not maggots, but they eat what falls through including their poo. I have fed some to the chickens and they ate them with no ill effects.

Picture would help. Otherwise i would think Free Protein. LOL. Shouldn't hurt anything as far as i know. Someone else may be of more help.
