Look what happened to my run!

Im so mad about it! After spending all that time on it. Oh well, I knew it was coming down soon so the ladies got locked in the coup. I think Im gonna try something different rather than the netting. I think it was too small of holes. But with all this snow I dont know if anything would have been perfect.

I don't think so either. I'm from Louisiana and we rarely ever get snow and when we got a few inches last Friday we could see the top of our run start sagging and it's all chicken wire!! Maybe if you put some type of wood supports every few feet and that way you won't lose the entire thing..

Well there were supports there, and when they fell they were nice enough to actually break some of the fencing!! Who knows! I bet you guys are loving your few inches!

same thing happened to my main coop run and duck pen. I am going to be doing a lot of fixing once this snow melts. i took off all the extra weight but it snowed again today and with the cold temps the snow is noty going to melt so I am just going to forget about it for the next few weeks and figure it out later. The ducks have been moved to a very large dog kennel with a real top not just netting and the chickens are staying indoors for a bit. They hate the snow anyway so no biggie.

Yep, looks like my brand new run as well after our last 27". Took down my garden fence as well because I had netting over that too. I'll need to start over once all this stuff melts.

Your chicks are so fuzzy! Really cute:)
I hate leaving them inside the coup for too long, they get stir crazy and then when you let them out half are missing some of their tail feathers! I can never give them enough to stay busy. Theres just nothing like pecking the dirt I guess.

So sorry this happened but glad the girls were ok.. I thought i was going to have a similar situation last week when we had gotten 5 1/2" of snow.. I had to go out 3 times to use the back of the rake to pull it off while it was snowing otherwise I would have been in the same situation.. I too locked the babies in for the night just incase.. I normally leave the little door open so they can come in and out as they please since I am not a morning person.. But, I did notice that on the extension to the run, there was no snow build up at all.. That part is covered by 1x1 fencing and the snow was able to fall right through it.. The snow covered the wire itself but nothing to cause a dangerous situation.. Might be a good fix for the future roof of yours.. If you are looking for something for shade, you could put a tarp over it and hold it down with bungee cords.. This way if it does snow, you could pull it off easily and store it until the snow stops.. Just a suggestion..
