this antique trunk site is funny. I like their sense of humor sprinkled throughout their site..for instance, regarding slats ordered from them...

That is a very good deal. That type of trunk in good shape or refurbished sells for about $150-$175 in shops along the Gulf Coast. Anything more and they tend to sit there. Regardless of value, they are such a fun, cool thing to own! I love to think about the memories that are attached to them...all the people who owned them and the treasures that were stored in them...makes me wish they could talk! As a matter of fact, that might be a good creative writing assignment for my students! Thanks for leading me to the idea! I promise not to give them your email address when I tell them it came from you lol
