After killing 2 of my meat chickens last night, this Great Horned Owl tried to squeeze through the electric poultry fence and became seriously tangled. I had to call a wildlife rehab person to come and cut him out of my fence, argh!. He has gone to live in another county and hopefully we'll never see him again. He was beautiful, if he wasn't so destructive I wouldn't have minded having him around.

Hopefully if he returns he won't be trying that again. We have a pair in our neighborhood that we hear hooting. I've only seen one once. I don't have chickens yet, but will have to plan the coop and free ranging accordingly.

Very pretty, poor thing. looks really tangled.

What a beautiful owl! Glad you were able to get him to a rescue group. i saw a little owl in our backyard once after dusk, not sure what kind he was. Thankfully, we've never had one go after our chickens.
