Look what I found in my quail pens

This is the 4th snake this month got my adult quails this top snake is like 5' and has swallowed 2 quails.

This one is around 4' got 2 quails

*shudder* I KNOW snakes are good for their reasons, but they still give me the willies.

So far *knocks on head* we haven't seen any in our yard but for tiny grass ones... the dogs like to hunt those.

Bro, move that pen away from the shed and wood pile, put it out in the open . . .

"They" also make a snake barrier thats basically a short, solid, flexible fence that gets put around something and snakes cant get thru it.
I think its basically a piece of plastic thats attached along the ground.
Never used it, but I seen it on a few jobsites to protect the SF Garter Snake, which is endagered.

2 home remedies come to mind

1 spread moth balls around your yard

2 stretch a rope around your pens a snake will not croos a rope

do these work?

but have seen both used in areas I have seen snakes and havent seen them in the flower beds they were used in

my suggestion of snake remedy most would not agree with

so sorry about your birds, i think its the same kind of black rat snake i saved a baby robin from the other day, the birds made a nest atop a ladder leaning on our shed, i walked out and saw a baby bird hanging by somthing, then realized, and ran up the ladder and got hold of the snake, he dropped the bird that he had the whole head in his mouth, jon i thought the bird was dead, so i was yelling at the snake, i had chicks about to hatch, so,,,,, i got the bad guy in a bucket, with lid, and checked the bird, he was ok , alot of snake spit on him, and he was moastly fledged, so i washed him of and dried, and put him back with the other 2 , hes doing fine and about to fly, the snake lives far from here now, when i find some quail, i guess id better use smaller wire than i was going to, if ya find a good place to get more birds id sure be interested, ive been studying and have some penn ideas, thanks and sorry,
