Someone was hiding eggs. I took them from her because she was not being a good chicken mommy. She was leaving them everywhere and just running off. They were sooooo cold!
They are in a brooder doing good now.

How many chicks and what breeds are they? Do you know how old they are?

They are White Rocks, 6 of them. Probably just hatched I'd say Friday because Saturday I heard cheeping and looked at my hubby and said "Somebody's got chicks!". I was going to let her raise them, but they were all scattered about this morning "Cheeping" and cold. Mamma was scratching around and running off with the other chickens just leaving them. It's too cold for them to be left all about. One was so cold it was shivering. When I picked it up I tucked it in my shirt and it snuggled up. Then it bgan the little soft content chickie cheep. I rounded up the other 5, they were cold too. This was her first brood. I've had several go broody and hatch chicks this year. The last batch I had 24 chicks between 3 hens. I put them in my large broody pen, but we had a cold snap and all but two died.

Awww, what a cute surprise. Maybe, next time, she will be a better mommy.
