Any advise for a newbie to pigeons? I have some rabbit cages to put the breeder pairs of rollers in and we are working on a loft for their babys. Cant wait to get some babys to fly from these rollers. These are all 09 birds except the figurita cock is 08. Would I ever be able to ply the roller pairs or will they always be prisoners?

I don't know much about pigeons, but they are lovely. I would love to keep pigeons, but I think DH would have a seizure. Maybe some will just mysteriously move in.

After keeping them in for a month, all of your birds can be flown

The only breed that is risky to let out from a new home (depending on the age of course), is homing pigeons. All the rest will stick around, even if they're a few years old and just now leaving the original home.

One thing is for sure, they are pretty birds!

One question though, the Fig hen, are those black (or blueish) flecks/spots in her tail? I see some dark fuzzy spots on the top of her tail, but I can't really tell.

I am waiting to hear when he is going to ship them but the figuritas were both listed as mealys so I assumed that was the litle fleck marks on them. I will let you know when they get here as to what she really looks like or if its just shadows in the pics. I was not interested in show stock so even if the color is off I dont care I thinnk she is pretty.

I don't know doodly about pigeons (except the bit about not breeding two deep rollers per Hannibal's advice) but that first hen is gorgeous. Pretty girl, may have to let her know that she's a bird and not a ham though.

i'v always liked figs, i got some silky ringneck doves from a breeder when i was younger and he had owls and figuritas, and ever since i'v like both, yours look really nice.

Beautiful birds! I recently got back into pigeons because I miss the cooes they make. You'll have fun with them! I would sugguest as big of a cage as you can get to let them excercise if the pens are not ready. And let them get used to their accomdations for a couple of weeks before letting them fly.
