Look what I saw yesterday! The MOM pic is now back!

Thats one of the joys for me. You never know what colors may crop out. Of course some are bred for particular colors and are always the same, but some breeds and strains aren't color specific. Those are the kinds I like.

I figured why the pic doesnt show up...I guess I must have deleted it from my uploads while clearing out some space. Here she is:

She doesnt have any bars on her wings either. Thanks! Terri O

ETA--now it shows up in the other post too! Funny how that works....

Because of genetics

These are obviously homers. With time you will be able to tell the difference very easily.

The father HAS to be split for blue, because the mother appears to be brown barless. I'm also thinking she is dilute brown (called khaki) and that the cockbird is split for dilute...because those two babies look a LOT like silvers (dilute blue) to me.

THanks Becky/Mary

I have been reading the thread on genetics on the NPA page and am learning a lot about it. I am now understanding why the man I got her from said, "she has to be a female because of the coloring." THis is going to be a very interesting ride! Terri O

Yes, color genetics are a lot of fun

Or at least it is for me. I think it's really cool when you can look at a pair and know what to expect. Or when you know what combos make neat phenotypes in the babies.
