This beauty came strolling up the drive today!

I actually saw her a few days ago, although at the time I couldn't tell what she was, I could just see a dog laying in the tall grass in my dad's pasture. It was accross the creek and I was leaving to go to the vet. I figured I'd ask Dad to check on it, but when we got back it was gone.

I have no idea where she came from, we've called everyone we can think (vets, pound, neighbors, etc.) to see if anyone is missing one. So far nothing. We're going to give it a week or two and see if anyone claims her, and if not we'll find her a home! I wish I was in a better possition to keep her, and believe me I would!

I took some better outside pics of her, but my computer died so for now this is all I have, she's really a beautiful dog and my mom loves her color! She's in pretty good shape other then being alittle thin.

Anyway, it was just kind of a shock to find a great dane in the yard and thought I would share!

Looks like times sure are hard when people are getting rid of their big dogs. Poor guy!

What state are you in?

What a beautiful girl. That face just says "Love me". Thank you for taking care of her, the kindness will come back to you.

Ooooooh.....Pretty!!!!!!!!!
Its not just big dogs either. My Mom found a jack russell in front of her farm up the hill from me a few weeks ago. She called all the neighbors, and the pound. No one has claimed him or ever seen him and no one has reported one missing at the pound. He had a little leather collar on with no tags. My little boy called from Mom's and said that he loved him and wanted to bring him home (pretty much next farm over). I said OK, but we are holding him for his owners. (I cant say NO.... I bring home new critters all the time..or 14... like this weekend..lol)
Still calling the pound weekly. Think this one is ours now.
So sad for him to be abandoned.... He is fixed and healthy. Guess he was too bouncy and hyper? He doesn't eat much.....

I'm in Arkansas. I am definately leaning more to the idea that she was dumped, even w/ as hard as it is to believe someone wouldn't want her! My mom is having alittle more trouble w/ it, she's just so sure there must be an owner out there missing her. Either way she's in good hands now! She's currently sprawled out in the livingroom floor making herself at home!

Not much shocks me anymore when it comes to people. My first thought was dumped, but I do want to give an owner a chance to get her back, just in case!

I just know I'm going to get really attached to her, but she's going to make someone a very happy dog owner!

What a sweet face!! Don't let redhen see her, you know how she is with big dogs!! If I were closer, she'd be coming home with me! If she's anything like my SIL's Dane, I'd be needing a bigger bed

That dog always claims my bed when my brother and SIL would come to visit! Hope you find a great home for her!! Try contacting a great dane rescue if you have trouble placing her!

check for a microchip!

There was a front page spread in our paper a few days ago about a little maltese mutt, reportedly neglected in someones backyard for the last two years. When the rspca brought her in they couldn't believe she had a microchip.

Turned out she had been missing for 8 years, they flew her back to her original home -2,000 km's away to a little girl (now grown up) who had missed her all that time....

She is a beauty! Too bad she can't tell you her story. I'm glad she found you.
My vet told me that when a stray or injured dog comes into a new area that they can somehow sense which houses they will be safe at. He said it is the only explaination he has been able to come up with as to why the same few people keep ending up with dogs and other animals in need in their yards.
So, you must be sending out good vibes! I would take her in a heartbeat if I didn't live at the opposite end of the country.
Good Luck with her!
