Look what we caught last night

So after one of my chickens ended up dead, we set it last night and this what we caught

not our first go round with coons. Hubby went to work without putting him down, now he's out there, and I don't think that I can do it. I have never shot a gun, and its not growling, so he will have to sit in the miserable cage i guess

Maybe instead of putting it down you could call animal control? I know some of them relocate the animals....

maybe you can look away and hum a little nursery rhyme over your other shoulder while you set the trap down in a barrel of water.

I would try and have him relocated too...me and my tender heart wouldnt be able to shoot him either!

I would call animal control.

Nope they sure don't here. Called them once when I thought I had a RABID possum, they said unless they have bit someone they won't pick it up. And you know what else, its illegal to relocate them! Oh and he killed one of my chickens, and I have all these youngins running around, has to be put down.

Amazing how something that cute can be so vicious when it come to chickens. I don't envy you your predicament.

This may be a stupid/ annoying question, but is there a way you can fortify your coop better and coexist? We have raccoons that have gotten accustomed to feasting at the compost bin, so I tried to make my coop extra coon-proof. Looks like Fort Knox. Hopefully I won't regret the approach.

Please don't drown him. That is such a cruel way. If he has to be put down, shoot him. It's quicker for both of you.
