Look what we saw at the lake last weekend. :)

Too adorable. Our local pond has 1 clutch of mallard babies--and watching them swim around was amazing to me. They are so tiny.

Our pond down the road used to have a small flock of mallards, so we would watch the babies......but then swans and snapping turtles came so the moved. So, last few years we've been seeing the swans with babies, but now they moved out.....

Yep, they are like a mini lobster. They taste just the same just kind of a pain becuase you only get one bite out of the meat in the tail. Here they are a nuisence animal and you are supposed to catch and kill them. They have invaded most of our lake and rivers and once they do they throw off the entire eco system for the water. They eat everything! The babies are about an 1/8 of and inch once they hatch. The ducks love to eat the babies. We actualy catch as many babies as we can and our ducks and chickens LOVE them to. The bigger ones we eat and they look just like this one.
