Look what wondered into my yard!!!!!!

they can eat with the blinders on.
he would be dead already if he couldn't eat..

I've read posts on here directly that birds with blinders on that are accidentally released have a hard time finding food. Im not talking out my rump here..... there was a whole post about it with pictures.

Just so i can show what im talking about:::: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=107391

I do not disagree with you, finding food in the wild probably would be more of a challenge with blinders on.. a relative of mine raises thousands of pheasants to sell in SD. he puts blinders on all of them when they are very young.. those birds eat and grow to adulthood..

last year we had a real heavy snow and one of his pens caved in.. hundreds of birds escaped .. many of them were shot 5 months later during hunting season, with their blinders still on..

Thats a nice bird! I think a Mongolian strain. I sure looks like an escapee, considering you live in FL, and becasue you can get 6 feet to him. He is ready to breed too!

just saw a second one didn't get a picture of him... and no he doesn't have binders on, just a leaf in the picture.. we are putting feed down on a couple of places but only one is staying really close to the yard. or at least I think only one is staying close.
I haven't seen pheasant since I left Oregon... they are not native down here at all... hoping they bring the rest of the escapes over to visit also

Well you can see that his wattles are larger, and his "horns" are bigger. He is also fatter than he would normally be any other season.
You can see in these pics. This is the same bird.
