I live in Rhode Island and this is becoming a seriously difficult task. I may not be looking in the right places (probably). I just had to put my 9 yr old hen down and I've got a rooster that's going to get real lonely fast. I've only had the pair for the past 4 years. I was looking for a home for him but that's not working out as it seems most people have 'regular' chickens that can be out in the mud and snow in the winter. I am looking for 1 or 2 hens. Can't take chicks as I can't risk another rooster.
Any suggestions? I'm willing to travel up to 2-3 hours for pick up. Thanks.
