I have been buying my layer feed from halloway feeds here in Lexington, and it is good quality feed, but costs $12.99 per 50LB. I was talking to some fellow chicken owners in Shelbyville and they tell me they are getting quality feed at a local mill there for $7.99 per 50lb. Is there somewhere in the Lexington / Georgetown / Cynthiana area to get good quality feed at a rate like that around here?

I'm in Western Kentucky, Owensboro area and I get 40 # bags of layer crumbles from Rural King for $7.99 a bag. We have a few feed mills in the general area, but I would have to drive much further to get their feed at a comparable price, so I've been using the Rural King brand with good results. If you have a Rural King or Big R store, they should have the same feed I'm using... it is very similar to the Purina starter crumbles which I had to buy at True Value one time in a pinch, and my birds didn't have any issue transitioning between the two feeds. editing so that I don't mislead you: I had to use the purina starter instead of the Rural King starter before I switched them to Layer Crumbles, but I assume the Layena is very similar to the Layer Crumbles I now use also, although I can't be sure...
