Looking for a breeder

As far as I know there are no breeders in my area (rural southern Utah) that specialize in the breeds I'm interested in (Orpington, Austrolorp, Ameracauna). How would I find a good breeder that I could mail order from? And am I naive to hope to find a breeder who will sell sexed baby chicks and ship them?

One more thing: is Sand Hill considered a hatchery or a breeder?

I find Sandhill more like a hatchery than a breeder. They have a lot of varieties, they sell like a hatchery, and from a lot of what I've heard - Most of their birds aren't the best quality.

For Ameraucanas, there's a breeders directory, you can look up your state (where I was born!

) to find any. Otherwise, John Blehm at chickhatchery.com sells and ships chicks as well as Jean Ribbeck of Pips&peeps. Both good breeders.

And you most likely arent going to find a breeder who sexes the chicks.
