I've been wanting to re-introduce a rooster into my flock after dealing with several "grumpy" ones. Does anyone have any ideas of breeds that might be calmer/less aggressive?

I would suggest a Faverolles or a Cochin. Faverolles are winter layers, if you plan to raise chicks from your roo... that might be a factor for you.....

The Faverolles look intriguing! Thank you! =) I'm not planning on raising any chicks from my flock; I just like having a rooster around...

You can't absolutely go by breed alone. It's highly individual. If you get one that comes from a line bred and culled for temperament, you'll be on your way, but nothing is 100%. There are rotten Silkie roosters and sweet as pie RIRs, too. I have a very easygoing Delaware and a teddy bear blue Orp rooster and have had wonderful Barred Rock gentlemen, however, I've culled Delaware and BR cockerels for aggression as well.

Originally, I didn't plan to have one. But, I kinda like to watch them interact with the girls!

Faverolles and Cochins just seem to be at ease around people, my others - not so much, although I do have a fabulous Blue Copper Marans (he's shy!)

Agreed, my SF roo will be going to the freezer soon. I can't breed aggressive roos.... However, I have a very nice replacement (or 2)!
