Hi guys,

I'm in need of a good picture showing the different types of combs for chickens. It's for my 4H group. They are 6yr old kids, so its needs to be something simple and clear.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys may have.

Shannon

I have chart in my ABA bantam standards book, but can't find anything online to link to you. Do you know anyone with that book?

Try doing a "search" for it on BYC. Somewhere, someone did an excellent display of the different combs! You may also want to check the feathersite.com link too, maybe they have something there? Also, the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection book will have it. You may be able to find a copy of the book at your library or Ag extension?

This is in my 4-H guide book and another breed book that I have.

I had that exact illustration in there at one time, but was asked nicely by a APA official to remove it. So long story short I kindly removed it but I will be updating the sticky and when I do I should have a new illustration of the comb types to post in there.

It will not only have the "standard" comb types (Single, Rose, Pea, V-comb, Cushion, Buttercup, Strawberry, and Walnut) but also Double and Raspberry combs

Thank You,

The American Standard of Perfection has very good comb illustrations. Not only comb types, but comb faults.

Since you are a 4-H poultry leader, you really ought to own a copy of the SOP. How can you advise the kids if you have no idea what is correct?
