Looking for a few "adult/still laying chickens in Monmouth County"

Unfortunately, I only have 4 left out of 7. I had to put one down last week bc of cancer.

They are very pretty! So sorry about the one you had to put down. That's always so hard!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I've had my chickens for 4 years this July (grew up with chickens as a child).

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Unfortunately, I only have 4 left. I would love a few more 1-2 year old hens!!!

(3) What breeds do you have? Brahma, 2 black asians and a silkie.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Watching them. They're attitudes are so different from one bird to another.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? My dogs, my family and cooking.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have 2 dogs. I work for a school district.

Welcome to BYC. I am very sorry for your losses. You could rescue hens to get them at that age.

I would like to rescue instead of buying chicks. Please show pix of you birds. I would love to see them!!! If possible let me know where/how you obtained them.

My rescue birds came from two places, 1. my vet who had chickens she wanted to get rid of, and 2. a member on this forum. Where are you located?

We're in Hazlet. I've asked family, friends, vet(s), etc...
People just tell me they'll keep their eyes/ears open for me.

My rescue and handicap chickens are attached. Grace survived a C1 fracture - she is my miracle hen. Penny's curly toe paralysis and splayed leg was not fixed before she was 4-5 weeks old. Her owner wanted to find her a new home. I adopted her at 15-weeks - too old to fix the leg or toes. My grandson and I feed her and give her water 6 times a day. She has a good life with us and spends the day with at least one of our family members. The hens in the third picture were my vets and she wanted to give them up.
