Hi. I live in northeast Missouri and last spring bought some straight run turkeys and they ALL turned out to be males. Does anyone have, or know where to get, some females?

Thanks,

Ed

Got my birds from local grain mill this past spring: 3 toms, 1 hen. Toms were delicious and Matilda is now my official pet. I just love her and so do my neighbors. I'm looking for a heritage Bourbon Red now.

Will be tough to find hens. Most buy BB (broad breasted) to butcher and do not keep them. All are sold straight run, so buying from a hatchery or local feed store might put you in the same position again. If wanting to keep as pets, I would suggest going with a heritage breed to avoid the issues of keeping a fast growing bird long term. Good luck in your search.

I used to, they met the freezer at 6-7 months of age. I had 2 toms, & 4 hens.
