this seems to be common request around here but figured I would put it out there in hopes of finding someone to ship me a few eggs. :)

Hello, I don't know if it's just my hen or a common trait but I have one cream legbar in my small flock, they are all just a little over a year old, I got her for the colored eggs, she laid just guessing about 20 eggs this past summer and hasn't laid a single egg since early last fall. The rest of my flock is now laying nearly day but the legbar. She is a very pretty and friendly hen but to me she is just a freeloader and I won't get another one.

hmmm most of what I have read say they are good layers. I have one that is almost 11 mo old and hasn't laid yet........ I figured she was a dud so was hoping to get another one and have better luck. haahaa!!!!! I picked mine up with 3 others for someone else and that guy was getting eggs from his around Sept I think.....

Maybe we both got duds. : )

Yeah, I'm not going to get rid of mine either, she is friendly and pretty and the rest are making up for her not laying. If nothing else, we could both use some blue easter egg dye and make our own colored eggs. : )
So true!!!! My first EE lays such a a light blue it looks white, my OE lays brown, then have a couple project Cochins that could have laid green, they lay brown (some I sold lay green).... Now my CCL just doesn't lay at all. 😂🤣. I have no luck with colors. But I love my girls and go for looks and friendly more than egg laying.

I got mine from Greenfire Farms (Rees line) and she is a really great layer of minty/light olive green eggs. She lays about 4 to 5 medium sized eggs a week and her daughter, my Olive Egger lays the same but hers are already edging up towards large sized. They both started laying at right around 5 months old.

I will say the CCL must have something with curled toe in their genetics because I got one chick from their production line that had it and one of the OE 3 chicks I hatched had it. I also saw someone post about having a CCL with it too.

I believe Greenfire does now sell hatching eggs on their website instead of just on eBay.
