Even an LGD has to see a hawk swooping in to be able to foil an attack. If you have a lot of hawk pressure and small fowl like chickens and ducks, a secure pen/tractor/run might be most effective. I grew weary of the Cooper's and Red-Tailed hawks picking off my layers (and even Muscovy), and had to go the tractor and run routes to eliminate losses.
