Hello! Can anyone recommend a place to purchase a few ducklings to raise as pets? I have been all over the internet, but am nervous about ordering online. Any suggestions?
Welcome to Backyard Chickens!
Tractor supply usually has Pekin ducklings when they have chicks, at least at the ones near me (SE NC). If you can wait until the next chick days you can get them from there.
Some harware stores and feed stores may also have ducklings if they have chicks in the spring like
TSC.
In the spring, Craiglist is a good spot to look for ducklings locally too. Might check now, you never know what they got.
I haven't ordered online before, but I'm sure lots of other people on BYC have.
If you can get an incubator, you can order duck hatching eggs online from most hatcheries and try hatching them out yourself, no need to worry about live ducklings being shipped then, just eggs (which are usually packed well).

Read some reviews about the hatcheries, most of them will give you an idea of how well packaged the ducklings are and the condition they arrive in. I know Metzer farms usually has good quality waterfowl and sells hatching eggs too (there's a lot of good info about duck care on there too), but there are a lot of options for ordering online.
Ducklings can make great pets, and I hope you find a place to get some from.
