I have another thread where I asked these questions, but I'm making a new one to more specifically ask what I'm looking for. Anyway, I'm looking into renting about 3/4 of an acre of brush to put a goat pasture on. I'm looking to use the goats for personal milking purposes, and while I did heavy research, there's still many questions I have. I'm looking to install a 5 or 6 wire electric fence or possibly poultry netting, reason for this is I don't want to build a permanent fence on leased land. I also have an idea for a cheap goat shelter. To start out, I would be looking to get two females and one buck. Goats I breed would most likely be sold off, both male and female. I can't kill animals I raise.

Questions that I'm looking for are the following, just answer whatever if you feel like it, thanks a lot if you do!

Best breeds for milking purposes? Best way to find local goat breeders?

Do electric fences even work and what's the best (ie 6 wire, poultry netting)?

What size charger to use for the fence (looking to fence in 3/4 of an acre)?

Ideal height of fence?

Any equipment necessary other than fence, shelter, waterer, feeder, and milking stand?

What do you do if the power goes out and the fence isn't solar or battery?

Go to the Caprine Supply web site. They offer a variety of books and you can find one to suit your purposes. A good book will answer most of your questions and would really be your best bet..
