I recently hatched out my first batched of cortunix around the beginning of the year. After about four weeks, I moved them to my garage. They began laying at about 7 weeks and at 8 weeks I moved them to my backyard. They continued to lay eggs for about another week and then stopped and haven't laid anything for over a month. Other than not laying, the birds appear to be very healthy.

Note: 1.) I haven't changed their feed. 2.) The weather here has been very inconsistent. (varies from warm to cool to cold)

Thanks for the help.

I have noticed with quail and chickens, that any change to their environment affects laying. When you moved them to the backyard, they could of had eggs developing that couldn't be slowed. Now they could internally turned that process down until the environment stabilizes. Just give it time and see.

Have they finished their first molt yet? Have you been seeing a lot of feathers around? Also is it possible predators are prowling around your cages at night?

I have my quail housed in two different runs with an upstairs bit really difficult to get into for eggs lol they don't lay quite as neatly as chickens and I thought I wasn't getting any eggs for the past week and then found a bunch of them hidden neatly in some conifer that I had put in there under the hebe bush so it depends how wild you have you quail cage too

but temps and predators could be an issue, what are you feeding them?

Yes, I have seen a lot of feathers around but I believe the molt is complete. I don't think it's predators because I don't see any evidence. I am feeding them MannaPro game bird feed. Looks like I'm going to have to wait it out and hopefully they will get it going again.

If you had light on them before and not anymore (now that they are outside) - that might be the contributing factor. There are a lot more experienced quail people on here than me, but I pretty much read every thread on here and a lot of other sources to educate myself before getting into quail, but I understand that if they don't have 16-18 hours of light - they won't lay. So, if you are not providing additional lighting - the days are too short for them to lay right now. Thus, they stopped.
