Hi
My isa brown has recently started laying a couple larger sized eggs and have had blood on them 2 of them.
After the two eggs her opening was drenched with blood(last week)its looking better but i dont know what to make about how she looks all puffed up now or maybe just swollen or maybe sick.
She hasnt layed in 4days due to i think she knows she needs to heal up but if anyone can tell me
1.Is she gna b fine
2.Anything for remedies
I have kept her away from the others due to them attacking her but she ok with them now.
Thanks

I'm guessing the blood is on the exterior of the eggshell.

So, the blood is probably caused by a rupture in the reproductive tract, since it's external, somewhere between the shell gland, vagina, and cloaca. If you can't find any injuries or cuts on her vent, then it is probably caused by her laying over-sized eggs. You were right to separate her from the others, and make sure to keep an eye on her, sometimes when young hens (how old is she?) lay over-sized eggs or overweight hens come into production, a blowout can occur. A blowout is when part of the oviduct and cloaca come out of the vent. Good luck, I hope your hen gets better soon!

Ok thanks,she is 1 1/2 yrs old.
As for her being all puffed up you think maybe just swollen and scared?
Thanks

I would post a pic of it but it wont let me on here!
She's been puffing her feathers up but not when i approach, its constant.almost looks burrowing in her feathers looking huge.

I also checked her vent and what was bloody before is now dried and slowly dripping white/Clear liquid.
I dont know what to make of that maybe infection.
