Looking for bantams in Indiana

Im brand new to chicken keeping and I am looking for breeders in Indianapolis, IN or close. I wanted to raise bantams(wyndottes or eater eggers) or any chicken that can be happily kept in a smallish space. I am looking for inexpensive docile chickens that are good layers and also any advice I can get. Thank you!

Just FYI Im looking to keep a very small flock 4-5 birds or less. Any breed suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Tractor Supply usually gets a shipment of assorted bantams and sometimes the local 4-H office will have a list of breeders in the area. Depending on what part of Indy your from you might try the Strawtown Auction(if they still have it) they sometimes have chickens. Coshin bantams or silkie bantams do good in small spaces and are really sweet birds~ Hope this helps

you may want to look at the list of breeder from the forum. I see there is a few bantam breeders in IN but I don't know how close to you they are.

It is not cheap but mypetchicken.com will ship as few as 5 bantams to large cities but again it is far from cheep to get them sexed and shipped.
