Looking for Chromosomes numbers of different Pheasants.

Most birds have about 80 Chromosomes give or take(72-82) depending on how many they detect(many of those chromosomes are very small and go undetected), that is why you see many interspecific hybrids like Chicken-Pea Fowl, Chicken-Guinea fowl and Chicken-Quail Hybrids since they have very good matching chromosomes.

I've seen Chick pea. Cool looking bird.

We want to get peafowl sometime, but they're so expensive.

We maybe getting Ornamental Pheasants this year.

Some pheasants won't interbreed or produce offspring, no matter how close the chromosomal relationship. Some pairings will have lethal genes, which result in (dis) or die shortly after hatching.
There's always a risk, yes. The main hybrids I wanna try is breeding Pheasant with a chicken.

Depending on location, breeders, availability and demand....ornamental pheasants can be expensive too!

I didn;t know they would hybridize. Our chickens and peafowl have lived free range together forever. The peafowl will sometimes display for chickens but we've never noticed any interest in actually mating. Maybe they would have to e artificially inseminated.
