Ok, nice one. And has the goose improved with her new companion?
I have a turkey hen here, she laid eggs and went broody, eggs were infertile, so I gave her a couple of chicken eggs to hatch out, which she did, she´s adevoted mum and cares so well for the chicks for a much longer time than the chickens do. Well, come feed time she´s charging around chasing all the ducks off her chicks´ food! She doesn´t try it with the geese, only the ducks...even the big drake! So funny. I hope it works out with them both. Well done, at least you´ve managed to fill the gap for now.![]()
Then you could get hold of some goose eggs and pop them under her. And then keep a young gander as it won´t be related, and away you go.....until spring anyway when she goes broody
Are you going to let her adopt the babies? Or just hope that she´ll be broody when the eggs arrive?yes i am about to place my order for march to metzer and i will get some eggs while i am at it![]()
