Interesting and thank you! Hmm...there's always buying keets at TSC. (But I wanted to hatch. I love hatching birds. )It is my understanding that guineafowl breed seasonally so any eggs sold now won’t have a high fertility rate (which is not good considering how expensive guineafowl eggs are). Also, since they are very tiny at birth, much smaller than newly hatched chicks, they require heat longer and more care.
Guineas will take 6 months before I personally feel it is safe to let them roam on their own. I lost a good handful of 2 month old guineas to my dog who doesn’t bother them now as adults, but for some reason loves playing (and accidentally or purposely killing chicks) then ends up eating them.
My males get along. I have no females. They get along to an extent. Guineas won’t always be nice but that’s just how they show dominance or something, but they’re only mean to each other. I don’t pen them up with my chickens.
They’re nice to me and associate me with food so they follow me if I’m near them.
Awesome on your males being so agreeable! And, yeah, birds and food. (And dogs and food...LOL)
