Hi, I am looking for a thread on Hatching turkeys 101. I was given 3 turkey eggs to put in my incubator and they are now on day 19. I have read Lockdown is on day 25. Temp and humidity I keep the same as chicken (37.7C and 50%) as they are all in the same incubator. I also read I need to make sure I hatch chicks at the same time with the turkeys as the turkeys are stupid and they won't find the food and water, so the chicks will help them. I have bought turkey starter food... Anything else important?

I read the sticky topics, but there wasn't anything on incubating and hatching there. I have kept it for after they hatch. I am hoping they hatch as the owner lost the adult turkeys - the fox are them and these eggs are the only thing left from them...

There is no "Hatching Turkey 101" thread. There is Hatching Eggs 101 by @Sally Sunshine that contains everything a person would want to know about hatching eggs.

I incubate my turkey eggs at 30 to 35% humidity and raise it to 65 to 70% humidity at lockdown.

Turkey poults have different instincts that chicken chicks have. Their instinct is to peck at things on the ground. I use sand for bedding in my brooder. I sprinkle turkey starter on the bedding and also have it available in the feeder. My poults will usually start picking the feed off of the sand within minutes of being placed in the brooder. I do not put chicks in with the poults and do not have any problems getting the poults to eat and drink.
