Hello there! We are a homeschool family in Chicago and we've been waning to hatch chicks for 2 years now but before we even get all excited about the process, I want to have a clear plan for what to do with the chicks in the end. We would love to work with someone to either provide us eggs or select what types of eggs we should buy and then we will do our absolute best to study and learn about hatching so we will successfully hatch some little ones and observe them for about a week or so and then we will bring them to their new home with you. If anyone is interested in discussing this idea further, please let me know! :) Thanks so much!

Have you checked with the 4H clubs in your area? The 4H was incredibly helpful for us with our homeschool hatch project. They even wanted to add the roos to their flock!

Well, if you wish to hatch them and make sure they are healthy and ship to me...i will take great care of them! I love all animals!! I already have chickens, guineas, turkeys, bannys, and a tortoise! All 15 of them get mine and my three kids (and my hubbys) attention! They think they are humans :)

Contact your local U of I extension office. They will be able to help you. If they can't, call the extension office in Kankakee and ask to speak to whomever does the embryology projects down here. They are incredibly helpful.

BTW, I also am a homeschooler and I work in Chicago. See those horses standing around the water tower? One of the drivers is me! We started keeping chickens with 6 chickies from our 4-H embryology project. I now have about 2 dozen poultry. It is legal to keep hens in the city. You might consider keeping your girls and re-homing your boys. Just a thought. Or, I would be glad to take the girls, but I have 3 boys now. But anyway, call the extension office. That is your best bet.

(oh yeah, I can also hook you up with an AWESOME homeschool group....;-) )
