I'm a new member, looking for information on raising pheasants. I have seven pheasants. One red golden pheasant, four yellow golden pheasants and two lady amhurst pheasants. All are juveniles, except the red golden pheasants. Right now, I can't tell the sexes of the lady amhurst. Does anyone know how long it takes before you can tell?

The Golden and Lady Amherst pheasants are catorgized as Ruff pheasants and as such can be sexed from day 1, if you have a keen eye and know what and where to look for the "tear drop" or wattle. PM me and I can send you some pics of what you should bee able to see in a male and female 1 day old and 1 month old.
On your juvenile Amherst, look under the eye, you should see a patch of pinkish skin, if it's present, you have a male. Later on around 5 to 6 months the males iris color will start changing from brown to a light cream to white-ish color. Females will not have the patch of skin and will have dark brown eyes. Hope this helps!

Good luck with your pheasants. If need any other information feel free to PM me.
