Looking for new waterer

I have a metal double wall waterer Little Giant 2 gallon. Although only a month or two old I’m already seeing black patches on the interior base. I’ve researched plastic waterers and seen lots of complaints about leakage. I tried the cups system / they get slimy and hens didn’t like them. Ideally I’d like a 3 gallon waterer in plastic as I like to use apple cider vinegar.
Any ideas?
As an aside, seems like there’s a great business opportunity for some enterprising person! Thank you!

I have had the exact same waterer for over 8 years now. A plastic one that looks like this:

These are some of the longest lasting heavy duty waterers I have used They are Brower 7-gal fill from top. I have three of them in my pastures for the last 8 years and they are still like new. Most plastic feeders or waterers I have used have gotten brittle from sun exposer lasting only 3 or 4 years.

I use horizontal nipples can use any size bucket do not
put it in direct sunlight to keep from molding.

About 6 months ago I bought the biggest of these, 10 gallons. It's the large one on the bottom left. I have issues with wading chickens and perching chickens and this has defeated both. It is incredibly sturdy and hasn't tipped over in any storms. I have to rinse crud out of the bottom water pan when I refill it and I added 2 bricks on the ground next to the basin so the littles can reach. There was zero learning curve for the chickens but I have to remember to slide the bottom cover down from the holes after filling so that it will refill. I dropped some colorful plastic balls inside so I can see the level from outside the pen. I wish it had a wider opening on top to make it easier to scrub out. I had a hard time finding a brush long enough to reach to the bottom but small enough to fit in the top. With about 30 chickens, who free range 12 hrs/day, I refill every 3-4 days. So far limited algae problems and NO mosquito larvae. It was expensive ($80) but should last a while, I hope. With no moving parts or metal fittings, the only issue would be solar degradation.
I am in Louisiana so I cannot answer to thermal issues.
