Got some more pictures, they are now officially 6 weeks old.

Firefly, he's already trying to crow! His feathers are growing in really pretty.

Ah, okay! Thank you for answering! I have a few Silkie-Cochin mixes as well, and they're the broodiest little stinkers in my flock! 🤣

As for your chicks, I do agree that Frog could go either way at this point. Peanut's comb is rather large, so I'm not sure I'd say pullet for sure yet on that one. Your little unnamed one that you just posted more pictures of does look like a cockerel to me. They're a bit young for me to be 100% sure on any of them except Firefly, though--he's beyond a doubt a boy with that comb at this age! Side shots help a lot with sexing as sometimes you can tell just by the pattern they're feathering in with, though.

Good luck with deciding on names! Sometimes that's the hardest part of raising up chicks for me. 🤣
I got side shots! Posted above this comment

Oh, I meant side views of them standing, showing their whole body! That said, I'd give it more time on Frog and especially on the unnamed little guy because that one has me flip-flopping for sure. The top view you posted of Peanut looks like a pretty feminine coloration so far, so maybe she is a pullet after all... Man, these little ones are tough. 🤔

Okay, I'll try too. They move around A LOT. I know right? I look at one and I'm like "you look like a pullet" and then the next day it has a flushed red comb

I definitely understand that! I've just got two right now, but I've been taking side profile shots of them every week since they hatched just to record their growth and it's a big pain in the butt with just them!

That's me every single year with my chicks! 🤣 Why does it feel like it's extra hard to be sure of your own chicks?

Most of them are 7 weeks old now! (They hatched on a span of Thursday-Sunday) and they are being integrated with our younger flock. So far everythings going great!

Firefly is getting new neck feathers underneath his black feathers which is interesting. Now I think his father was our SF x Cochin rooster (died due to unknown causes. Fine one day and the next he was throwing up yellow slime :/) which would make more sense than our silkie x Cochin bantams because he has a straight comb unlike the 2 that are from our silkie Cochin bantams. (First pic is Firefly's neck feathers and second is his possible father)

Frog (still iffy about them, comb is reddish but they have no wattles)

Fern, she got to meet her crazy broody biological mother today lol (neither chicken was very impressed). Firefly's big butt got in the way of Fern's photoshoot

Unnamed chick (#8), I'm really on the fence with this one! They are really quiet and make soft cheeps, the wattles and comb haven't grown at all since a couple weeks ago, but they have a very masculine face IMO.

Button, she also met her mother today. Sutton didn't know what to think lol. (Everyone met at least one parent today! The father of over half of this group was in the barn so that's why. And the roo I think was Firefly's rather has died but he met his mother!-Olive egger)
