looking for peacock pheasant

I currently raise ringneck pheasant and several other varieties of birds. I would love to get a pair of Grey peacock pheasant. If anyone has any info. for me that would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck, they are pretty hard to find and pretty darn pricey. There was a thread on here before about them, but I cant remember when. I saw some at the Mt. Ohio sale a few years ago and they sure were pretty.

you'll need heated areas for them in the winters unless you are in the deep south. You can find greys fairly easy, they are the most common species of peacock pheasant, and easiest to keep. Still not saying they are easy by any means. If all you have had at this point is ringnecks, I would advise against jumping straight to peacocks, try some of the easier to keep more common longtailed species first, as the peacocks are finicky, require special care, and can die at the drop of a hat on you. The greys are the cheapest price wise, but still are a $150 a pair minimum. Check into them good and be sure you are ready for the commitment before you try them!

I wish I could find the old thread on here about them. IF I remember right, they are pretty hard to raise and cost a good bit. I have seen them at the Ohio Mt. Hope exotic sale, they sure were pretty, I didnt see them sell so I dont know what they went for. Good luck and let us know if you find any.

There's plenty of info on line about them, I wrote in that other thread you mentioned too, will try to find it.
They cost, like I said $150 a pair, some up to $250, but they can easily be found at $150. The other species are the expensive ones, all from $400- $1000 some even higher IF you can even find them.
No they arent easy to keep at all, need fresh fruits and live critters to be truly happy, heavily planted aviaries, heated winter quarters, do great in the summer months though. They lay very few eggs in a season. and the chicks can be a night mare to start. They do tame up much easier than other species though. BUT honestly need an experienced mulit species pheasant keeper to be successful with them.
