I am currently feeding the Nutrena medicated chick starter and am looking for recommendations for good quality brands of food. From what I have read here, it seems Dumor is not popular and Blue Seal is. I'm looking for whatever makes my chickens healthy, not what will make them grow faster or lay more eggs. These chicks will be pets and eggs will be a bonus!

I started with Purina because that what the feed store carried. They actually had a couple of choices but said that purina was the most popular. Since i have read a lot of good about them so i continue to use purina's layer feed. The one thing i don't like is that from what i understand most feeds use soy for protein. I try to make sure i give treats that have animal protein. I feel that we get more natural eggs this way. Like someone said if you want store bought eggs just feed your chickens the same stuff as the production houses do. Makes sense to me.

Lazy J Farms Feed & Hay :

We sell and use the Homestead line of All-Natural feeds from Hubbard Feeds. The Fast Grow is having great success with our customers and we have had great reviews this spring from our customers.

So they use soy based protien? (it says non-animal)
