My friend has convinced me that I *need* some Silkies! Didn't take much arm twisting.
I've checked out some of the big name hatcheries and the only one I'm considering so far is MPC. I like that they offer sexed bantams and they also have the colors I'm interested in. Blue (or splash), buff, and white. I'd also like to get the bearded ones. My only issue with ordering from a hatchery is the unknown quality of the birds and that MPC doesn't give you a choice in bearded/non-bearded.
Anyone have any good chick leads that I can check out??
On a side note...since I've joined BYC, I have learned a TON about chickens! If I knew now what I didn't know even a week ago, I would have known that the employee of the feed store did not know what a Silkie chick looks like. No feathers on the legs and no 5th toe and she was telling me,"That one for sure is a Silkie."
So no clue at this time what sort of chick that my friend ended up with.
