Hello fellow chickeneers! Ive been going through this site for some time and finally decieded to become a member. Me and my wife have wanted to get chickens for some time and i used to have them growing up. Finally the time is right and i have already ordered some Blk Australorps, EE,Barred Rocks,Red Stars! I was unable to order some silkies at the same time do to Meyers hatching schedule..Does anyone have some soon to be hatched or hatching any Silkie's soon????

There is a Silkie thread. If you do a search and join it, they are VERY active and I am sure someone there could help you.

Look on Craigslist listing for started silkies in your area, but remember you probably cannot put the silkies in with your regular egg layers I am told and found out for myself the hard way that the silkies are to mild mannered and will get picked on by the layers. My pair of silkies now reside in my greenhouse until a new silkie coop is built for them. Which is fine for me and great for them.

I think all the breeds im getting along with the silkies are fairly "laid back" EE,Barred Rocks,Blk Astlorps,Golden Buff

Wanted to come back and add that my silkies generally do just fine with all my other chickens they learn to hang in there with the others..
